Health and Wellness Program

As an organization focused on Meaningful Lives As We Age, GSA is committed to supporting attendee health & wellness by creating a program that combines physical, social and creative events throughout the Annual Scientific Meeting. We hope this inspires focus, balance and fun for all who participate.

Eight Forms of Tai Chi: Ancient Wisdom for Health and Harmony

The session will delve into how Tai Chi improves balance, flexibility, strength, cardiovascular health, and cognitive function while alleviating stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. Participants will also learn the fundamental movements and principles of the Eight Forms of Tai Chi, a simple yet powerful routine that enhances coordination, relaxation, and overall well-being. By the end of the course, attendees will be equipped to incorporate Tai Chi into their research, health management practices, and gerontology care, promoting improved wellness and quality of life for older adults.

Sound Bath

Friday, November 14 | 7:00 AM - 7:50 AM
Price: Free * registration required

Sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by singing bowls. It is a carefully selected wash of instrument and voice with notable resonance and overtones designed to stimulate the energic body (chakras). We ask that you register for this event, however there is no charge. We hope to see you take the morning to listen to resonant sounds and set an intention of relaxation for your conference day.
